How much sugar is in Pepsi?

In today's experiment we boiled a can of Pepsi to test how much sugar is in it.

First we opened a can of Pepsi and poured it into a pot on the burner, turned it on high and waited for it to boil

While waiting for it to boil, we calculated how much sugar there should be based on what the label on the can says.  It said 40g of sugar which is over 7 teaspoon fulls.  Watch this video to see what that tastes like.

Once we finished boiling the water, we were left with a surup that turned into black sugar when it cooled down.

After seeing what is in a can of Pepsi, I think I will drink water from now on! :)

Thanks to mom for cleaning up our mess after the experiment was done.
